Found Software Engineer | New York, NY (2 Days In Office Per Week)
About the Role
We're partnering with a well-funded, venture-backed startup building purpose-built AI platform software to transform a large, legacy-laden industry. This hire will join the core platform team, building tools and driving software adoption across the firm's portfolio of businesses.
You'll have significant agency over the full product lifecycle, engineering decisions, and internal stakeholder relationships supporting a rapidly scaling platform.
What You'll Do
Owning the full development lifecycle: discovery, build, ship, debug in production, and live iteration
Exercising strong product judgment to translate internal stakeholder feedback into clear build decisions without waiting for specs
Partnering closely with internal teams (customer success, compliance, ops) to gather requirements, run working sessions, and drive scope independently
Synthesizing lessons and patterns across portfolio companies so wins at one firm scale into the shared platform
Working directly with leadership on both immediate engineering needs and long-term platform strategy
Navigating data sensitivity and regulatory constraints (PII, SOC 2, financial compliance frameworks) as a normal part of shipping
What We're Looking For
3–10 years of full-stack product or platform engineering experience
Proven track record of owning product decisions and shipping software end-to-end without hand-holding
Experience with full-stack and AI development (modern web frameworks, backend languages, cloud infrastructure, LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks)
Exceptional communication poise and fluency to earn trust with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners, including compliance, ops, and finance
High-agency, founder-minded mindset comfortable in early-stage, fast-moving environments
Recognizable early-stage startup experience (Seed–Series C) or top technical background preferred
Tech Stack
Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, EC2, Docker, Playwright, GitHub Actions, Claude Code, Codex
What's in It for You?
Work directly with the co-founders as a key technical hire in a small, elite team
Own outcomes end-to-end and build purpose-built tools from the ground up rather than maintain legacy specs
Significant influence over product direction, engineering standards, and company culture
Join a lean engineering team where individual impact is highly visible
