Overview

We’re recruiting a Smart Building Infrastructure Technician to join a dedicated on-site team at Gatwick Airport, supporting the installation, maintenance, and operation of smart building technology across a large and complex estate.

This is a hands-on role focused on copper and fibre cabling infrastructure, with the opportunity to work across a range of technologies including Wi-Fi, IoT, AV, and electronic security systems. You’ll be involved in full project delivery from installation through to testing, maintenance, and fault finding in a live, critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate and test copper (Cat5e/6/6A) and fibre (OS1/2, OM3/4/5) cabling
  • Deliver cabling works across airport and operational environments
  • Install containment systems (tray, basket, trunking, conduit)
  • Rack, install and patch network equipment
  • Install devices including CCTV, access control, Wi-Fi APs, IoT sensors, and AV systems
  • Carry out testing using Fluke equipment and ensure compliance with standards
  • Support commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding
  • Complete documentation and adhere to strict health & safety procedures

Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in structured cabling or ICT infrastructure
  • Strong experience with copper & fibre installations
  • ECS/CSCS card
  • Relevant certification (BICSI, CNet or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence

Working Hours & Package

  • £30,000 – £36,000 salary
  • Monday–Friday (7:30am – 5pm)
  • Flexibility for night shifts (7:30pm – 5am)
  • Overtime available
  • Ongoing training and development
