The opportunity

We are on the lookout for Sustainability Consultants who are experienced within BREEAM to become part of a growing multidisciplinary consultancy that has a focus on sustainability and engineering. As a small to medium-sized business, it offers something larger firms often can’t: a close-knit, collaborative culture, direct access to senior colleagues and the chance to make a real, visible impact on the business.

Working alongside in-house engineers and sustainability specialists, the successful candidate will guide projects through the BREEAM process, from early-stage strategy to post-construction certification. With sustainability and engineering expertise under one roof, this is an ideal environment for an assessor who wants to work in conjunction with other teams, understand the technical detail behind the credits and see projects through from start to finish.

What the role involves

  • Carrying out BREEAM assessments across a range of building types and project stages
  • Advising clients and project teams on strategies to achieve their target ratings
  • Working closely with in-house engineers and sustainability colleagues to deliver practical, well-coordinated solutions
  • Reviewing design information and evidence and keeping assessments on track
  • Coordinating with architects, contractors and other consultants
  • Managing your own project workload, programmes and deliverables
  • Preparing reports and submissions for quality assurance and certification
  • Attending project meetings and, where needed, site visits
  • Keeping up to date with BREEAM schemes, standards and wider sustainability legislation
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues across the wider team

About you

  • Ideally a qualified BREEAM Assessor, though candidates close to qualifying will be considered
  • Experience in sustainability, building services, construction or the wider built environment
  • A good understanding of the BREEAM process and how it works in practice
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once

Why apply?

In a smaller, multidisciplinary business, your work is noticed and your ideas count. You will have variety, ownership of your projects and the chance to broaden your skills alongside engineers and sustainability specialists, with room to grow your role as the business grows. Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll share in the company’s success through a profit-linked bonus and enjoy a hybrid working pattern that balances time with the team in the office and flexibility at home.
