Senior Town Planner

Scotland (Hybrid working)
£40,000 – £45,000

I’m working on behalf of a small, highly regarded planning consultancy based in Scotland. The business is well established, consistently successful, and known for delivering high-quality planning advice without the multiple layers of management or long hours often associated with larger firms.

They’re now looking to appoint a Senior Town Planner to support continued growth and play a key role in client delivery.

The Role

This is a hands-on position offering genuine autonomy and exposure to a wide range of projects. You’ll manage planning applications end to end, advise clients directly, and work closely with senior leadership in a collaborative, well-structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing planning applications and appeals across a varied project portfolio
  • Leading pre-application discussions and advising on development strategy
  • Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with local authorities, consultees, and key stakeholders
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to repeat business
  • Mentoring junior planners as the team continues to grow

About You

  • Degree qualified in Town Planning or related discipline
  • MRTPI qualified (or strong experience at Senior level)
  • Solid working knowledge of the Scottish planning system
  • Consultancy experience preferred but not essential
  • Confident communicator with strong written skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a small-team environment

What’s on Offer

  • Salary of £40,000 – £45,000, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working with genuine flexibility
  • Direct access to decision-makers and clear progression
  • Supportive, professional culture with realistic workloads
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact within a growing consultancy
