I am currently working with a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with over 15 offices across the UK that are looking to expand its structural engineering team. Working across public and private sector projects, the business offers a collaborative, people-first culture and a varied portfolio of technically challenging work across multiple sectors.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join the Glasgow team, reporting to the Principal Engineer. You will lead and deliver structural design, inspection, assessment and refurbishment projects across buildings, bridges and industrial structures, working closely with clients, contractors and colleagues to develop safe, practical and cost-effective solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering structural design, assessment and refurbishment projects, including foundations and temporary works where required.
- Undertaking site inspections, asset assessments and construction support.
- Applying British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant industry guidance.
- Preparing calculations, technical reports, drawings, sketches and design documentation.
- Managing design risks, quality assurance, health and safety, and commercial considerations.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and coordinating project delivery.
- Building client relationships, defining scopes of work and contributing to proposals, tenders and business development.
About You
You will hold a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and have consultancy experience, with strong technical expertise in structural design, inspection, assessment and refurbishment.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience designing and assessing reinforced concrete, steel and other structural materials.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis, loading, design standards and refurbishment guidance.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
- Excellent report-writing, communication and client-facing skills.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to support and mentor junior engineers.
Experience in temporary works design and staff mentoring is desirable. You should be working towards chartership with IStructE or ICE, or be newly chartered, and hold a full UK driving licence.
What's on Offer?
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Hybrid working arrangements.
- A diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors.
- Opportunities for technical development, mentoring and career progression.
- The chance to contribute to client relationships and business growth within an expanding consultancy.
