Role Overview:

The Business Development Analyst will be responsible for compiling actionable insights and intelligence on clients, prospects, and competitors. This position will collaborate with the business development team and provide critical research that influences strategic business decisions, client engagement, and lateral recruiting efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Competitive Intelligence & Research: Support competitive intelligence efforts, conducting research on clients, prospects, and industry trends across global markets.
  • Client & Market Research: Utilize research tools like Lexis, Pitchbook, and Capital IQ to compile detailed business and industry profiles for use in client pitches and proposals.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze court dockets, litigation data, and market trends to support business development objectives; maintain metrics for completed projects to monitor impact.
  • Tool & Resource Evaluation: Conduct evaluations of new research tools and technologies, ensuring access to the latest intelligence resources.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business development professionals and attorneys to deliver relevant insights, tailoring reports to specific client and project needs.
  • Team Training & Support: Provide training on research tools and resources, helping team members leverage competitive intelligence in business development.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in research, business, or law preferred. Advanced degrees (MLS/MLIS, JD, or MBA) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in competitive intelligence within a professional services environment, with 4+ years supporting business development in a law firm or similar setting.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, with proficiency in MS Office and research databases commonly used in global law firms.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated expertise in compiling and organizing large data sets for clarity and strategic application.
