About Us
An established and growing built-environment consultancy is seeking an Assistant / Graduate Transport Planner to join its expanding Transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience across a diverse range of development projects while being supported by experienced transport and planning specialists.
The role offers exposure to projects ranging from small residential schemes to large mixed-use and strategic developments, providing a strong platform for long-term career development in transport planning.
The Role
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will support senior transport planners across multiple live projects. Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and supporting technical reports.
- Supporting the development of Travel Plans and Travel Packs to promote sustainable and active travel.
- Undertaking data collection and analysis, including traffic surveys and public transport assessments.
- Providing technical support such as swept-path analysis and CAD-based tasks where required.
- Liaising with internal consultants and external stakeholders including local authorities and highway officers.
- Attending meetings, workshops and site visits as part of wider project teams.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Around 1 year of relevant experience in transport planning (or a strong academic background with practical exposure).
- A genuine interest in transport planning, sustainable transport, placemaking, spatial planning and development-related infrastructure.
- A good understanding of the UK planning system and transport policy framework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Willingness to learn specialist software such as CAD, GIS and transport data/modelling tools.
- Flexibility to support project delivery, including occasional work beyond standard office hours when required.
