Bhayani Recruitment is working in partnership with UK’s largest supplementary education provider to recruit a Senior Maths Assistant to help assist pupils with their Maths skills and knowledge. Their aim is for every child to become an independent, advanced learner with a positive attitude to study, with programmes to develop English skills, as well as maths, and are constantly evolving, learning from students and Instructors, to make them as effective as possible.


Summary of role


The Maths Assistant will be providing competent advice, services and supervision to students, to help support the maths students ranging from early years to degree level maths. The Assistant will provide individualised support for each of the student’s needs and requirements, to enable the student to learn independently from the worksheet using examples provided on each topic. 


What will you be doing?


  • Ensuring efficient day-to-day progress of all matters, prioritising work as necessary and keeping the student + students family informed on progress
  • Ensuring that all work carried out meets or exceeds the requirements of Kumon Maths programme under the guidance of Rita Rughani, Kumon Instructor.
  • Provide clear and concise feedback to Rita on student performance and understanding both in class and in work completed at home.
  • Ability to adapt to assess students’ individual needs and provide instruction/feedback that will enable the pupil to reach their full potential and meet specified targets 
  • Ability to support students both in-person and remote learning to assist the students in their individualised study.
  • Encourage a safe and motivating work environment for all pupils where they feel aided to meet their goals, providing sensitivity to the pupil’s individual plans and specific needs 
  • Manage a range of different tasks throughout the session whilst prioritising the pupil’s education 
  • Keeping up to date with safeguarding and other job-related training including worksheet study to become familiar with Kumon methods.


Requirements


  • Maths A ‘level or equivalent 
  • Previous work with children (desirable)
  • Previous experience as a Maths tutor/ teacher (desirable)
  • Proficient using technology (computers, tablets etc)
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Time management skills and the ability to work well with competing demands
  • Ability to communicate clearly with people of varying ages
  • Active listening skills
  • Demonstrable patience with students
  • Reliable and trustworthy
  • Candidate must be suitable and willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and sign up to update register at their own cost initially, costs will be reimbursed after 12 months of continuous employment.
  • The candidate will also be expected to undergo relevant safeguarding training
  • Must live in Sheffield or a commutable distance permanently
