Recruitment Needs Consulting is currently recruiting a Financial Controller to work in a luxurious Hotel Property in Galway City. This Hotel is part of a large group of high-end prestigious properties around Ireland. They are looking for a strong, innovative, and passionate manager to join our progressive hotel group. Previous Hotel FC Experience whilst an advantage is not essential. This role will be in the office with the possibility of one day from home after an initial period in the role to be discussed at the interview. Salary €60k to €65k


Reporting to the Hotel General Manager and with the support of Group Finance within our client’s Hotel Group, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Finance function with the support of a Finance team within the Hotel while contributing to the overall achievement of business goals.

Financial Controller for Galway 


The Financial Controller functions as the property’s Financial Business Leader. As a member of the Executive team, reporting to the General Manager and Group Finance function the incumbent will develop and implement hotel-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of guests, owners, and the management company. They will create and execute a financial business plan that is aligned with the hotel’s business goals with a primary focus on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of financial results.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

 

  • At least 4 - 5 years of experience as a Financial Controller, and industry experience would be essential.
  • Ability to provide the senior management team with strategic and financial guidance that will ensure the hotel’s financial targets are met.
  • Expert-level attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent finance, accounting, and analytical skills, including experience with cash management, forecasting, revenue management strategies, capital expenditure planning and budgeting, and project management
  • Knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment, Microsoft Office, and accounts packages. Previous experience with hotel systems including Opera and Micros is beneficial but not vital.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • A drive to succeed, excel and grow with the company.

 

General Work Overview:


  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the accounting office and team
  • Weekly and monthly forecasting/budgeting.
  • Financial analysis and reporting.
  • Production of monthly Profit & Loss accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Audit and control.
  • Manage working capital, cash flow, capital, and overall expenses to obtain highest value.
  • Ability to control costs and payroll in line with budgets/ revenues.
  • Identify risk exposure and effectively manage financial risk to create and preserve value, ensuring effective systems of controls are in place.
  • Must have a knowledge of and a willingness to assist in all accounting functions as required.
