An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a fast growing, small building services consultancy. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys leading projects, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior team members while working on a diverse portfolio of residential developments.

As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring high-quality, sustainable design solutions are delivered to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects within the residential sector.
  • Manage projects through all stages, from feasibility and concept design to construction and handover.
  • Produce and review detailed calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the business.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, developers, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Champion sustainable and energy-efficient engineering solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 6 years' experience within a building services consultancy environment.
  • Strong track record delivering residential building services projects.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage key client relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
