The company

Our client is an established building services and maintenance contractor with a team of field engineers working on commercial sites across the North West. The business is growing, and they need an experienced administrator to take full ownership of their accreditations and keep the office and compliance side running smoothly.

Why this role is open

The previous postholder looked after the company's accreditations, and the work is currently being covered by a senior manager who is moving into a new position. You'll be given a proper handover and support while you settle in, before running things independently.

What you'll be doing

Accreditations and compliance

  • Managing and renewing the company's accreditations, including Constructionline and SafeContractor, and keeping all information and evidence up to date throughout the year
  • Preparing for annual audits and making sure documentation is ready well ahead of deadlines
  • Running quality assurance processes and supporting Health & Safety administration
  • Keeping client and supplier portals accurate and current

Engineers and operations

  • Booking training for engineers and keeping the training matrix up to date
  • Ordering engineer uniforms and monitoring stock
  • Arranging monthly van stock top-ups and checking vehicles carry the correct safety equipment

Office and facilities

  • Fire alarm testing and keeping first aid kits fully stocked
  • Keeping the office organised and arranging warehouse tidy-ups with the engineering team
  • Helping out across the office during quieter periods, including reports, site files and correspondence
  • Identifying new tender opportunities for the business

What you'll need

  • At least 2 years' experience managing business accreditations (Constructionline, SafeContractor, CHAS, SMAS or similar), including at least one full renewal cycle
  • Experience with internal audits and compliance record keeping
  • A background in administration within construction, maintenance or a contractor environment
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several deadlines at once
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Comfortable working on your own initiative once settled in

What's on offer

  • £28,000 to £30,000 depending on experience
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • Supported handover and onboarding
  • Clear ownership of the compliance function in a growing business
