An independent, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join its London or Bristol team. The consultancy works across infrastructure, residential, commercial, education, healthcare, leisure, regeneration and masterplanning.

The role

The successful candidate will work across projects at all stages, from feasibility and due diligence through to detailed design and construction, on schemes ranging from small developments to large, multi-phase projects. This gives exposure to a range of clients, sectors and technical challenges, along with input into best practice and emerging design standards across the team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading civil engineering projects from inception through to construction
  • Managing programmes, resources, risk and health & safety
  • Delegating work to and overseeing junior and intermediate engineers, and supporting their development
  • Producing project management documentation, fee proposals and technical reports
  • Developing civil engineering models using Civil 3D
  • Carrying out site visits, surveys and inspections
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and highways authorities
  • Supporting business development and new project opportunities

Requirements

  • Accredited Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Professional membership with ICE or equivalent body; Chartered status (or clear progress toward CEng) desirable
  • Consultancy background with strong project and people management experience at senior level
  • Broad infrastructure experience, with good knowledge of drainage, highways and flood risk
  • Experience liaising directly with highways authorities and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and InfoDrainage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage projects independently while supporting less experienced engineers
