Civil Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: £33,000 - £45,000

A growing UK engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineer to join its expanding Civils Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career or developing engineer to become part of an experienced, supportive team with strong opportunities for progression.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will work within the Civil Engineering team, with a focus on drainage design, project management, and collaborative project delivery.

General Requirements & Attributes

• Degree in Civil Engineering

• Working toward IEng or CEng registration

• Relevant industry experience, ideally within a design consultancy environment

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage technical designs, drawings, and related documentation

• Support the wider team in delivering projects to agreed timelines

• Contribute to the development of engineering solutions and the evaluation of design options

• Assist in project budgeting, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on project resources

Duties & Responsibilities

• Strong technical knowledge of drainage design principles and applicable standards

• Experience designing SuDS features such as soakaways, swales, ponds/basins, and cellular storage systems

• Manage statutory approval processes with relevant authorities

• Proficient in MicroDrainage or Causeway Flow, with the ability to produce network designs (essential)

• Experience using Autodesk Civil 3D (advantageous but not required)

• Produce high-quality technical reports

• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills

• Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
