Senior / Principal Urban Designer

Location: Cardiff or Bristol
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (DOE)

Are you an experienced Urban Designer looking to take the next step in your career? We’re working with a respected multidisciplinary design, planning and engineering practice who are seeking a talented Senior or Principal Urban Designer to join their growing team in either Cardiff or Bristol.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping high-quality places and delivering impactful, design-led projects across residential, mixed-use, regeneration and strategic masterplanning sectors.

The Role

As Senior/Principal Urban Designer, you will:

• Lead and contribute to a wide variety of urban design and masterplanning projects
• Provide creative, strategic and technical input at all stages of design
• Work collaboratively with architects, planners, landscape architects and engineers
• Prepare and present design concepts, frameworks, development briefs and reports
• Engage with clients, local authorities and stakeholders
• Support junior colleagues and contribute to the growth of the urban design team
• Ensure work aligns with best practice, design quality principles and sustainable placemaking objectives

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Strong experience in urban design and masterplanning, ideally within the UK
• A degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field
• Excellent design, graphic and presentation skills (Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, GIS etc.)
• Confidence producing high-quality reports, diagrams and visual material
• A strong understanding of planning and development processes
• The ability to lead projects, manage deadlines and liaise effectively with clients
• A proactive, collaborative and design-driven mindset
