Civil Engineer (Water Sector)
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
I am currently working on behalf of a well-established engineering consultancy to appoint a Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major pipeline of work linked to AMP8 and beyond, supporting UK Water Authorities on large-scale infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and dynamic team, contributing to the design and delivery of a wide range of water sector projects, including potable water networks, foul drainage, CSO remediation works, and both Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) and conventional surface water drainage schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake civil engineering design for water infrastructure projects
- Deliver designs for potable water mains, foul drainage, and surface water systems
- Support CSO remediation and SuDS design projects
- Prepare and manage statutory approvals (e.g. S104, S106)
- Utilise software such as MicroDrainage and/or InfoDrainage for 3D modelling
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
- Contribute to a high-quality, client-focused service delivery
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 3+ years’ experience within the water sector (design and/or construction)
- Experience with potable, surface, and foul water systems
- Familiarity with statutory approval processes (S104, S106 etc.)
- Experience or exposure to SAB / SuDS approvals
- Proficiency with MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or similar design tools
- Working towards or willing to pursue Chartership (ICE, CIWEM or similar)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
