CDM Principal Designer 

Birmingham – Hybrid

£55k - £60k + Car/Car allowance

The Opportunity 

Our client has an excellent career opportunity for a CDM Principal Designer to join their new health & safety team based in Birmingham. Working on a wide range of projects including national refurbishment and new build schemes across residential. Education, health care, commercial and blue light sectors.

Our client delivers construction projects for both public and private sector clients, established well over a decade they have a strong record across housing, health, education care, and commercial sectors.

How you will Deliver 

• Work alongside the Head of CDM, under our ISO 9001 Quality Management System
• Working on RIBA stages 1-6.
• Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase.
• Help and advise the client in bringing together preconstruction information, and provide the information designers and contractors needed to carry out their duties.
• Work with any other designers on the project to eliminate foreseeable health and safety risks to anyone affected by the work and, where that is not possible, take steps to reduce or control those risks.
• Take account of relevant information (such as an existing health and safety file) that might affect design work carried out both before and after the construction phase has started.
• Liaise with the principal contractor, keeping them informed of any risks that need to be controlled during the construction phase

Your Skills and Experience 

• Demonstration of Health & Safety skills and knowledge
• 5+ years industry experience
• Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health – IOSH
• Member of the Association of Project Safety – APS
• NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety
• International Institute of Risk and Safety Management – IIRSM.
