Are you an experienced Associate Architect looking for a senior role where you can make a real impact on the growth of a practice?
My client is looking for a commercially minded Associate Architect with strong project delivery, leadership and business development experience to join their growing team in Epsom.
This role would suit someone who can hit the ground running with their own projects, develop new opportunities and bring an established network of clients and contacts to the business. Experience across Life Sciences and/or Healthcare is particularly important, alongside a broader range of sector experience.
Key responsibilities for this Associate Architect role:
- Lead architectural projects from concept through to completion, taking ownership of project delivery.
- Manage project programmes, deadlines, budgets, resources and overall project performance.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Manage client and consultant relationships and act as a key point of contact throughout projects.
- Oversee design, planning and technical delivery.
- Manage project finances, including cash flow, invoicing, fees and commercial performance.
- Provide effective people management and leadership, including mentoring, performance management and team development.
- Support recruitment, resource planning and the continued development of the team.
- Maintain appropriate health and safety procedures and responsibilities across projects and the studio.
- Contribute to bids, tenders and wider business development activity.
- Identify and develop new client and project opportunities, generating work independently through your existing network and relationships.
- Support the wider strategic direction and continued growth of the practice.
Key requirements for this Associate Architect role:
- ARB registered Architect with a recognised UK architectural qualification.
- Significant post-qualification experience within UK architectural practice.
- Proven experience successfully managing and delivering architectural projects.
- Strong understanding of project programmes, deadlines, budgets and resource management.
- Good commercial awareness, including experience with fees, invoicing, cash flow and project financial performance.
- Experience managing, mentoring and developing architectural teams.
- Good working knowledge of employment law and HR responsibilities.
- Understanding of health and safety management within architectural practice.
- Excellent design, technical, communication and client-facing skills.
- Proven business development and marketing experience, with the ability to generate new work and develop client relationships independently.
- An established client network and range of sector contacts that can be brought with you and developed within the business.
- Experience at Senior Associate, Associate or Director level, with a track record of winning work and developing opportunities.
- Life Sciences and/or Healthcare experience is essential.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- A proactive, commercially aware and collaborative approach.
