Site Engineer – Civil Engineering
Salary: £47,000 - £50,000 DOE + Car Allowance
We are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of projects across the North East.
This opportunity would suit an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and work packages, working closely with site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest standards. The successful candidate will also play a key role in supporting and developing less experienced engineers as the team continues to grow.
The Role
- Supporting project delivery from design and planning through to construction and handover
- Taking ownership of projects and work packages with minimal supervision
- Preparing and managing project documentation, including RAMS, QA records and site reports
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, consultants and site teams to ensure works are delivered in line with project requirements
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting on performance
- Managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts
- Ensuring all works are carried out in line with health, safety and environmental standards
- Contributing to cost control and helping maximise project value
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers where required
- Maintaining quality standards across all stages of the project
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee health and safety compliance on site, including reporting incidents and near misses
- Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures and project documentation
- Conduct site inspections and ensure works are completed in accordance with specifications
- Assist with programme management and achieving key project milestones
- Coordinate site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery
- Raise and manage technical queries where required
- Ensure accurate records, surveys and as-built information are maintained
About You
- Proven experience working on UK civil engineering projects
- Strong background within highways, drainage, infrastructure, groundworks or related sectors
- Experience managing site activities and coordinating subcontractors
- Strong understanding of RAMS, QA processes and construction documentation
- Ability to manage sections of work independently and take ownership of delivery
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Confident using project software and IT systems
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Temporary Works experience
- Experience working directly with clients and consultants
