Senior Acoustic Consultant
Location:
Manchester
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

Aztrum is working with a highly regarded specialist consultancy within the energy and environmental sector that is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Acoustic Consultant as part of the continued growth of its acoustics team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced acoustician who wants to develop their career within the rapidly expanding energy and infrastructure market, working on major projects across the UK and Ireland.

The role will have a particular focus on Transmission & Distribution infrastructure, including substations, converter stations, underground cables and overhead lines, alongside opportunities to work across renewable energy developments including wind farms, BESS and solar projects.

The Role

Depending on your level of experience, responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking noise impact assessments for major energy and infrastructure developments
  • Noise propagation modelling, data analysis and interpretation
  • Preparing high-quality technical noise assessment reports
  • Supporting projects from early feasibility and planning through to development and delivery
  • Managing projects, programmes and budgets
  • Preparing fee proposals and supporting tender submissions

At Principal level, there will also be plenty of opportunity to take greater responsibility for key clients, major projects and the strategic development of the team.

What We're Looking For

We'd be interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • Experience working within environmental acoustics or noise consultancy
  • Experience undertaking noise assessments for electricity Transmission & Distribution projects
  • A relevant degree within acoustics, engineering, science or a related discipline
  • A strong understanding of UK and/or Irish noise assessment standards
  • Experience with noise modelling software such as CadnaA
  • Strong technical report-writing skills
  • Membership or Associate Membership of the Institute of Acoustics
  • A full UK or Irish driving licence

Experience within the wider renewable energy sector, including wind, solar or battery storage projects, would also be highly beneficial.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking to specialise further within the energy sector.

The consultancy is employee-owned, meaning employees directly share in the success and long-term development of the business. The company also has an established acoustics team, providing the opportunity to work alongside experienced specialists rather than operating as a standalone acoustician.

Benefits include:

  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays
  • Additional day off for your birthday
  • 7% employer pension contribution
  • Annual salary reviews
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Employee ownership-related financial benefits
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life assurance and income protection
  • Funded professional memberships
  • Excellent professional development and progression opportunities
  • Flexible working around core hours
  • Opportunities to attend conferences and become involved in the wider acoustics industry

For someone with a background in energy, renewables or Transmission & Distribution acoustics, this offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing specialist team and play a significant role in some of the UK's and Ireland's major energy infrastructure projects.
