Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team based in Cambridge.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with at least five years of industry experience to play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects from concept through to completion. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing practical, efficient and compliant mechanical engineering solutions while collaborating with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will enjoy a varied workload across multiple sectors, with the opportunity to contribute to innovative engineering projects both within the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical engineering solutions for a range of industrial and infrastructure projects.
  • Produce engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports and design documentation.
  • Develop detailed mechanical layouts, equipment specifications and installation drawings.
  • Support the selection and specification of mechanical equipment, piping systems, rotating equipment and associated components.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and client specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and project planning activities.
  • Provide engineering support during procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation and value engineering.
  • Assist with technical problem-solving and provide engineering support on existing systems where required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer position.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and relevant British and international design standards.
  • Experience delivering engineering projects within sectors such as energy, industrial, infrastructure, utilities or process engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar design packages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work to agreed timescales.
