Position Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Director of Business Development to help expand an established electrical infrastructure manufacturer's representative into the rapidly growing data center and mission-critical power market.

Our client has more than 50 years of experience representing leading manufacturers within the utility and power-delivery industry. The company represents established manufacturers providing transformers, medium-voltage equipment, electrical distribution products and other critical power infrastructure.

As demand for data center power continues to accelerate, the company is expanding its commercial and industrial/data center business and is looking for an experienced industry professional who already understands the data center ecosystem and knows how to develop relationships at the executive level.

This is not a transactional equipment-sales position.

We are looking for someone capable of developing long-term relationships with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, EPCs, contractors and infrastructure organizations while helping customers solve complex power-delivery, equipment-capacity and long-lead-time challenges.

What You'll Do

Develop new business and strategic relationships throughout the U.S. data center and mission-critical infrastructure market.

Build relationships with senior decision-makers within hyperscalers, colocation providers, data center developers, EPCs, electrical contractors and other infrastructure organizations.

Identify upcoming data center developments, expansion programs and power infrastructure requirements before individual projects reach the procurement stage.

Facilitate executive-level meetings between customers and leading electrical equipment manufacturers.

Work with customers to understand multi-project development pipelines, future equipment requirements and long-term power infrastructure needs.

Help structure strategic manufacturing and supply relationships that can improve equipment availability and reduce project lead times.

Develop opportunities involving transformers, medium-voltage infrastructure, substations, power distribution, microgrids, energy storage and related mission-critical infrastructure.

Represent the organization at major data center conferences, industry associations and customer meetings.

Maintain and develop a national pipeline of strategic opportunities while working closely with company leadership and manufacturer partners.

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates with established relationships throughout the U.S. data center and mission-critical infrastructure market.

Successful candidates will likely have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Data center development or infrastructure

Electrical and power equipment manufacturing

Transformers, switchgear or medium-voltage systems

Power generation or microgrids

Battery energy storage systems

Electrical distribution

Mission-critical construction or EPC

Data center equipment or infrastructure sales

Utility or commercial/industrial power systems

The ideal candidate will have experience selling complex infrastructure solutions with long sales cycles and multiple decision-makers.

You should be comfortable communicating with senior executives, technical teams, procurement organizations and construction/development leadership.

A strong understanding of how hyperscale and large data center organizations plan, procure and deploy critical power infrastructure is highly desirable.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who already understands the data center ecosystem, has relationships within the industry and knows how to convert those relationships into long-term strategic partnerships.

Why This Opportunity

This is an opportunity to help build a growing data center business backed by an organization with more than 50 years of experience in the electrical utility industry and relationships with established global and U.S.-based manufacturers.

Rather than representing an unproven product or startup, you will be bringing established electrical infrastructure manufacturers and significant manufacturing capabilities into one of the fastest-growing infrastructure markets in the country.

The organization is investing in its data center business and is looking for an experienced industry professional who can play a meaningful role in shaping that growth.
