We are working on behalf of a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer for their London office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer looking to take on a senior technical and leadership role within a busy London-based team, delivering complex and high-profile projects across a range of sectors.

The Role

As Principal Structural Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on a variety of projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for managing project teams, maintaining technical excellence, and building strong client relationships, while remaining hands-on in design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver complex structural engineering projects

  • Provide technical oversight and review of designs, calculations, and drawings

  • Design in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber

  • Manage and mentor engineers and technicians

  • Act as a key client-facing contact, attending meetings and providing technical advice

  • Ensure compliance with UK design codes, standards, and best practice

  • Support work-winning activities, bids, and proposals

  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the London team

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Chartered Engineer status (IStructE or ICE)

  • Significant experience within a UK structural engineering consultancy

  • Proven track record of leading projects and teams

  • Strong technical capability and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Commercially aware with a proactive, collaborative approach
