About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Planner to join our client’s growing planning team in one of their regional offices in London, Birmingham, Exeter or Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking consultancy, delivering high-quality planning advice across a diverse range of residential, commercial, mixed-use and regeneration projects.

As a Senior Planner, you will manage planning applications and appeals, provide strategic advice to clients, and play an integral role in project delivery and business development. You’ll be part of a collaborative team and have the opportunity to make a real impact on shaping places across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage planning applications, appeals, site appraisals and representations.
  • Provide sound planning advice to clients, including developers, landowners, local authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform planning strategies.
  • Draft high-quality reports, including Planning Statements and Design & Access Statements.
  • Liaise with local authorities, consultants, and external teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Attend planning committees, public consultations, and client meetings.
  • Support junior planners and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Play an active role in business development and growing the firm’s regional presence.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) – essential.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Town Planning or a related subject.
  • At least 3–5 years' professional experience in a planning consultancy, local authority, or developer environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK planning systems and policy (experience in both England and Wales desirable if cross-border).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Commercially aware with a client-focused mindset.
  • A proactive, collaborative and problem-solving approach.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable, depending on base location.
