Salary: £13.73 per hour (Temp) → £28,568 once permanent

About the Opportunity

Recruitment Fox is seeking a dedicated Caretaker for an organisation supporting vulnerable individuals across Cardiff. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that residential and community facilities are safe, functional, clean, and welcoming.

The Role

This is a varied, hands‑on position reporting into the Head of Finance and Facilities. You will support the upkeep of multiple buildings and grounds, ensuring high standards of safety, cleanliness, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance:

- Painting, decorating, and basic repairs

- Minor plumbing and electrical tasks (e.g., leaks, blockages, bulbs)

- Installation: shelving, display boards and general fittings

- Furniture repairs and inspections

- Maintaining kitchens, bathrooms, and communal areas

Void Management:

- Inspecting vacated rooms

- Coordinating or conducting cleaning, repairs, and redecoration

- Ensuring high‑quality accommodation for new occupants

Contractor Coordination:

- Working with and directing contractors for repairs and scheduled works

- Liaising with landlords and external parties as needed

Cleaning & Grounds:

- Supporting general cleaning when required

- Managing waste, debris, and site tidiness

Compliance & Safety:

- Monitoring and reporting health and safety issues

- Fire alarm checks, emergency lighting tests, PAT testing, legionella checks

- Vehicle condition monitoring and arranging repairs

Client Support:

- Supporting volunteers in developing basic maintenance/DIY skills

- Contributing to a compassionate, psychologically informed environment

About You

Essential requirements include:

- Experience or a trade background in property/building maintenance

- Confidence working in challenging or trauma‑informed environments

- Knowledge of HMO health and safety requirements

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Ability to stay calm, adaptable, and proactive

- A clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites
