Quantity Surveyor
Location: East London (Site / Project Based)

We’re working with a well‑established UK specialist contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of major construction and engineering projects.
This contractor operates across technically complex and highly regulated environments and has a strong pipeline of work. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their commercial capability with experienced and driven Quantity Surveyors.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the commercial management of projects from handover through to final account, working closely with project and operational teams to ensure strong cost control, contract administration and commercial performance.
This is a hands‑on role offering exposure to challenging projects and the opportunity to progress within a structured commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial delivery of projects from initial handover to final account
- Carry out site visits, assess progress, value variations and prepare accurate commercial reports
- Manage contractual and commercial duties including valuations, payments, negotiations and settlements
- Procure and manage subcontract packages, maintaining accurate commercial records
- Provide commercial input into estimating and support elements of tenders and bid activity
- Maintain risk registers and support collaborative problem‑solving across teams
- Support, mentor and develop Assistant / Trainee Quantity Surveyors
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and company standards
About You
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual principles
- Relevant qualification (HNC / HND / Degree) or equivalent industry experience
- Experience managing valuations, variations, claims and financial reporting
- Background within complex construction environments (e.g. structural, civils, M&E, specialist works, rail or infrastructure)
- Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills
- Well organised, commercially aware and able to manage workload effectively
- Confident using MS Office and commercial reporting tools
