The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in residential building services design looking for the flexibility of a fully remote role?
A fast-growing and ambitious building services consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of a substantial portfolio of residential developments across the UK. As a senior member of the business, you will take ownership of project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and commercially successful solutions are delivered to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects, with a primary focus on residential developments.
- Manage projects through all stages, from feasibility and concept design through to construction and final handover.
- Produce and review detailed calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, architects, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and commercial standards.
- Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.
- Champion sustainable and energy-efficient engineering solutions across all projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with client expectations.
About You
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience within a building services consultancy environment.
- Strong and demonstrable experience delivering residential building services projects is essential.
- Proven track record of leading projects and managing client relationships.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical design principles, and relevant UK regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently within a fully remote environment.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
