Senior Structural Engineer | Newton Abbot

We are working with a well-established and growing engineering consultancy in the South West, seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their expanding team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to take on greater project responsibility, lead designs, and mentor junior staff within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Role Overview

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will take the lead on complex projects from concept through to completion. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading residential and commercial structural projects across the South West

• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and project teams

• Managing design, delivery, and quality control of structural schemes

• Reviewing and checking designs from other engineers

• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians

• Coordinating with other disciplines within the consultancy

• Attending site visits, meetings, and inspections

• Contributing to business development and project planning

Candidate Requirements

• Degree qualified (BEng/MSc or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering

• 6+ years’ experience in a structural design consultancy

• Chartered or working towards Chartership (Institution of Structural Engineers / Institution of Civil Engineers)

• Strong project management, communication, and technical skills

• Ability to work independently and lead project teams

Desirable:

• Full UK driving licence
