Associate / Lead Structural Engineer

An established and growing multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Associate / Lead Structural Engineer to join their expanding team in Welwyn Garden City. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior structural engineer seeking a leadership role within a collaborative and technically driven business delivering high-profile projects across the UK and Europe.

The business operates across sectors including data centres, logistics, residential, retail, energy and commercial developments, offering engineers the opportunity to work on technically complex and large-scale projects.

The Role

As an Associate / Lead Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical delivery and leadership of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion. You will manage project delivery, mentor junior engineers and act as a key point of contact for clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading structural engineering projects across a variety of sectors
  • Managing programmes, resources and project delivery to time and budget
  • Producing and reviewing structural calculations, reports and specifications
  • Carrying out structural design from first principles
  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and external stakeholders
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers
  • Identifying project risks and ensuring successful delivery
  • Supporting wider business and practice management activities

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered (MIStructE / MICE)
  • Strong experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment
  • Demonstrable experience delivering structural projects across commercial, industrial, logistics, residential or data centre sectors
  • Strong understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards
  • Experience using structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, Robot or similar
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members
