Senior Transport Planner
Birmingham or Leeds (Hybrid Working)
£40,000 – £50,000 + Benefits

I am currently working on behalf of a growing transport and infrastructure consultancy to appoint a Senior Transport Planner to join their team. This opportunity is open to candidates based in Birmingham or Leeds, offering flexibility and the chance to work on a wide range of development projects.

The consultancy provides transport planning and traffic engineering services across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, supporting clients from initial feasibility through to planning and delivery.

The Role

The successful candidate will take a leading role in the delivery of transport planning projects, managing workstreams and supporting junior team members while working closely with clients and stakeholders.

They will be responsible for producing technical reports and transport assessments, contributing to project strategy, and ensuring successful delivery of planning applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
• Support and manage project delivery from feasibility through to planning submission
• Undertake junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, and project teams
• Mentor and support junior team members
• Contribute to project strategy and client advice
• Attend meetings and represent the consultancy where required

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
• Strong experience within a transport planning consultancy environment
• Experience producing Transport Assessments and related reports
• Knowledge of software such as Junctions 9, LinSig, or similar
• Strong understanding of UK planning policy and transport guidance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
