Senior Transport Planner

A well-established transport planning consultancy is seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join its growing team, working on a diverse portfolio of development-led projects across the Northwest and throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner with a minimum of 3 years’ experience who is passionate about development planning and enjoys working across a wide variety of schemes including residential, mixed-use, logistics, retail, education, and regeneration projects.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects, acting as a key point of contact for clients while providing expert advice on transport and highway matters. The role will also involve engaging with local authorities and relevant stakeholders to help secure successful planning outcomes.

The Role

• Manage and deliver transport planning projects from inception to completion
• Prepare Transport Assessments, Statements, Travel Plans, and site access reports
• Undertake junction capacity modelling (e.g. ARCADY, PICADY) and traffic signal modelling (LinSig)
• Support preliminary design work including junction improvements and highway schemes (AutoCAD)
• Carry out swept path analysis (AutoTrack)
• Produce high-quality plans and graphics using GIS or similar software
• Contribute to client proposals, fee submissions, and wider business development activities

Requirements

• Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or similar
• At least 3 years’ experience within development-focused transport planning
• Working knowledge of relevant policy, standards, and guidance
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders
• Membership of (or working towards) a relevant professional body such as CIHT or ICE
• Proactive approach with strong attention to detail and organisational skills
