Civil Engineer
Cardiff or Bristol
£45,000 – £52,000
A well-established SME civil engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer to join their team, based in either Cardiff or Bristol, with flexible working available. This is a great opportunity for a civil engineer with strong drainage and SuDS experience to take on a varied, technically-engaging role within a smaller, close-knit business.
Staff are genuinely valued here, and client work is seen as a source of pride and stimulation, contributing meaningfully to a changing world. While many companies talk about work-life balance, this firm has built its culture around actually delivering it.
What's on offer:
- £45,000–£52,000 depending on experience — market-leading salaries
- Agile, flexible working designed around staff's personal lives
- 24 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), increasing with length of service
- Life insurance, life assurance, and a healthcare cash plan
- Contributory pension scheme (5% employee / 7% employer)
- Professional institution membership fees paid, with a clear pathway to Chartership
- Formal external training plus regular in-house and external CPD sessions
- Social and wellbeing benefits, including sports and charity initiatives
What they're looking for:
- Proficiency in 3D design and modelling software such as MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Autodesk ICM
- Experience with water authority statutory approval processes (S104, S106, etc.)
- Experience with SuDS Approval Body approval
- Awareness of National Planning Policy and infrastructure design requirements relating to flood risk management
- Ability to manage a team with varying experience levels, providing technical support and resource planning
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritising tasks to ensure effective client delivery
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with statutory bodies such as Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency
- Self-motivated with a methodical approach, and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
This is a great opportunity for a civil engineer looking for genuine flexibility, meaningful drainage/SuDS work, and a benefits package that reflects real investment in its people.
