HV Operations Manager

Location: Stockton-on-Tees (flexible with project travel)

We are working with a growing electrical contractor that is investing heavily in the expansion of its High Voltage (HV) operations. This is a key senior appointment, offering the opportunity to take ownership of HV delivery and play a pivotal role in shaping and growing a specialist HV function.

This role will suit an experienced HV professional who enjoys both operational leadership and client-facing responsibility within a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.

The Role

As HV Operations Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the successful delivery, performance and development of HV projects. You will work closely with clients, project teams and senior leadership to ensure work is delivered safely, commercially and to programme.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading HV operations from tender stage through to project completion
• Supporting the development of existing client relationships and future HV opportunities
• Leading early project discussions from a design, programme and delivery perspective
• Acting as the senior point of escalation for clients throughout the project lifecycle
• Managing variations, EOTs and commercial discussions in collaboration with clients
• Ensuring clear and proactive client communication during tender, validation and mobilisation stages
• Supporting LOI/LNTP stages to ensure realistic project schedules and expectations
• Line management of Project Managers, Commercial Managers and Lead Engineers
• Monitoring project performance, programme, cost and risk
• Reviewing contracts, scope, programmes, milestones and risk registers prior to award
• Involvement in subcontractor appointments to ensure no scope gaps
• Attending key client meetings and internal project and performance reviews
• Ensuring company policies, procedures and HV standards are followed consistently
• Reporting project performance and risks to senior management

You will have overall accountability for project success alongside the respective Project Managers.

About You

• Degree-qualified in Engineering or similar, or equivalent industry experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience within HV Operations at a senior or leadership level
• Strong technical background in HV/EHV operations
• Experience in cable pull-in services
• Proven experience in EHV / HV / LV installation, termination and testing up to 235kV
• Strong commercial and contractual awareness
• Confident operating in a client-facing, senior leadership role
• Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams
• Proactive, decisive and comfortable in a growing, changing environment
