HV Electrical Instructor – Safe Systems of Work (AP / SAP)
Location: Swindon (with national travel required)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

An established and growing technical training provider is seeking an experienced High Voltage Electrical Instructor to deliver Electrical Safe Systems of Work and Authorised Person training.
This role would suit a hands‑on HV professional with strong AP/SAP experience who is looking to move into training, or an existing trainer who values practicality, flexibility and learner performance over rigid theory.
The Role
- Deliver Electrical Safe Systems of Work and Authorised Person training (AP / SAP)
- Instruct, demonstrate and assess learners in both classroom and practical environments
- Adapt training delivery to suit different learners, experience levels and client frameworks
- Ensure safe, effective and engaging training outcomes
- Travel nationally as required to support training delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement of course content and delivery methods
The Person
- Significant experience working as an AP or SAP within an electrical discipline
- Ideally 6–10 years’ experience in HV operations
- Experience working under multiple sets of electrical safety rules, not limited to a single sector (e.g. beyond MOD or NHS alone)
- Practical, flexible approach to training delivery
- Focused on how delegates understand, apply and perform rather than rigid model answers
- Comfortable adapting course content and delivery where appropriate
- Previous experience training or mentoring APs is highly desirable
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of HV Safe Systems of Work
- Full UK driving licence
- Maths & English at Level 2
Desirable (not essential)
- Teaching qualification (AET / PTLLS or equivalent)
- Assessor qualification (TAQA / A1 or equivalent)
- HNC in Electrical Engineering
