We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Low Voltage Estimator who can immediately support active construction estimating and preconstruction opportunities.
This position is ideal for a senior estimator, consultant, or preconstruction professional who can quickly take ownership of complex low-voltage, structured cabling, fiber, and ICT construction estimates.
There are active projects requiring immediate estimating support.
We need someone who can review extensive construction drawings and specifications, determine the complete scope of work, perform detailed takeoffs, develop accurate labor and material costs, identify potential gaps or risks, and build a complete and defensible construction estimate.
If you can be handed a major set of plans and specifications and independently determine what it will take to build the project and what it should cost, we want to speak with you.
Key Responsibilities
Immediately support active data center and low-voltage construction bid opportunities.
Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, addenda, and design narratives.
Develop complete estimates for structured cabling, fiber, copper, ICT, and associated low-voltage infrastructure.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for cable, fiber, pathways, cable tray, racks, cabinets, telecommunications spaces, and related materials.
Prepare detailed Bills of Materials.
Determine project labor requirements, installation hours, manpower needs, and productivity assumptions.
Develop material, labor, equipment, vendor, and subcontractor pricing.
Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Identify scope gaps, missing information, design conflicts, and potential cost exposure.
Develop assumptions, exclusions, allowances, and contingencies.
Prepare conceptual, detailed, budgetary, and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates.
Support value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
Work with project management, engineering, operations, and leadership to ensure estimates accurately reflect how the project will be built.
Assist with project handoff once opportunities move into construction.
Required Qualifications
Senior-level experience estimating low-voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, or ICT construction projects.
Ability to independently take ownership of an estimate with limited supervision.
Strong experience reviewing construction drawings and detailed project specifications.
Demonstrated knowledge of structured cabling, copper, fiber, racks, cabinets, pathways, cable tray, and telecommunications infrastructure.
Experience developing detailed takeoffs and Bills of Materials.
Strong understanding of labor-production rates and field installation requirements.
Ability to recognize scope gaps and project risks.
Strong Excel skills.
Experience using Bluebeam or similar takeoff/estimating software.
Ability to become productive quickly and work with a high degree of independence.
Highly Preferred
Direct data center or mission-critical construction experience.
Hyperscale or colocation data center estimating.
Experience preparing Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates.
Experience estimating multi-million-dollar low-voltage or ICT packages.
Large structured cabling and fiber deployments.
Design-build or design-assist experience.
BICSI or RCDD credentials are a plus but are not required.
Ideal Candidate
This is not an entry-level or junior estimator position.
We are specifically interested in professionals who have personally owned major estimates and can confidently work through large, complicated construction packages without needing someone else to determine the scope for them.
You should understand both estimating and field execution.
Compensation
$85–$95 per hour, depending on experience.
Candidates with exceptional data center, mission-critical, GMP, or large-project estimating experience may be considered above the stated range.
This opportunity can begin on a contract basis and may develop into a long-term or permanent position for the right individual.
