Senior Civil & Structural Engineer

An established civil and structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience gained within consultancy and/or public sector environments. The role involves working as a key design team member on a range of urban infrastructure and building projects.

The consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions and is looking to appoint a senior engineer to play a pivotal role in the technical delivery of projects across the residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical management and delivery of projects, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, on time and within budget. This position offers the opportunity to take on leadership responsibility within a growing team, with scope for management development and progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians
• Managing complex projects using resources from both local and regional teams
• Liaising confidently with clients, consultants and other design team stakeholders
• Demonstrating strong commercial awareness and delivering against client requirements
• Leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver project outputs
• Ensuring projects comply with ISO 9001 quality management systems
• Supporting senior management with the development and updating of internal technical documentation
• Overseeing the preparation of calculations, specifications and technical reports
• Managing workloads effectively and meeting challenging deadlines
• Willingness to travel within the UK, including occasional overnight stays
• Flexible approach to working arrangements to meet business needs
• Eligibility to work in the UK is essential

Experience & Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) or near-chartered, with at least 5 years’ experience within an engineering consultancy
• MEng or BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (2:1 or above)
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience
• Proven experience managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams
• Thorough knowledge of structural design using steel, concrete, masonry and timber
• Strong understanding of relevant standards and guidance including Eurocodes, British Standards, DMRB, Manual for Streets and local authority guidance
• Experience in residential and commercial building design
• SuDS design experience and familiarity with the SAB application process
• Working knowledge of drainage and highway adoption processes (S104, S185, S38, S278)
• Highway design experience (e.g. drainage, street lighting, traffic signals) desirable
• Proficiency in design and analysis software such as STAADPro, Bentley SewerGEMS, AutoCAD and Scale/Sand
• Strong IT skills including MS Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat (SharePoint knowledge desirable)
