We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join a well-established and growing engineering consultancy based in Essex. This role offers the opportunity to take technical and project ownership of civil engineering schemes while supporting and mentoring junior staff.
You will lead the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, from concept through planning and construction.
Leading the civil design of infrastructure projects including highways, drainage, and external works
Preparing and reviewing detailed designs, calculations, drawings, and reports
Managing projects to programme and budget
Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and design teams
Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians
Attending design team, client, and site meetings
Ensuring compliance with UK standards (e.g. DMRB, S278, S38, Sewers for Adoption, SuDS guidance)
Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Minimum 4–6 years’ experience in a consultancy or contractor environment
Strong experience in drainage design, highways, and development infrastructure
Proficient in design software such as MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage, Civil 3D, AutoCAD
Confident managing projects independently and communicating with clients
Working toward or already Chartered (CEng MICE)
