A growing sustainability-led building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Oxford team.

With a strong reputation across the built environment, the business delivers high-quality mechanical, electrical, sustainability, and building physics solutions across a broad range of sectors. The consultancy works on projects spanning new build, refurbishment, fit-out, asset maintenance, and large-scale masterplanning, with a focus on creating energy-efficient, high-performing buildings.

Their portfolio includes work across heritage, rail and transport infrastructure, education, healthcare, commercial, hospitality, and residential developments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading mechanical design projects across a range of sectors
  • Undertaking feasibility studies, surveys, and technical assessments
  • Producing mechanical services designs, specifications, and technical reports
  • Supporting projects through all stages from inception to handover
  • Carrying out site inspections and overseeing installations
  • Managing project workflows, deliverables, and quality standards
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
  • Coordinating with architects, contractors, consultants, and clients
  • Assisting with fee proposals, project financials, and business development activities as experience develops

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience within a building services consultancy
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services design
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior team members
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport

Desirable:

  • Experience using Revit and building modelling software
  • Interest in sustainable and low-energy design solutions
