A growing sustainability-led building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Oxford team.
With a strong reputation across the built environment, the business delivers high-quality mechanical, electrical, sustainability, and building physics solutions across a broad range of sectors. The consultancy works on projects spanning new build, refurbishment, fit-out, asset maintenance, and large-scale masterplanning, with a focus on creating energy-efficient, high-performing buildings.
Their portfolio includes work across heritage, rail and transport infrastructure, education, healthcare, commercial, hospitality, and residential developments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design projects across a range of sectors
- Undertaking feasibility studies, surveys, and technical assessments
- Producing mechanical services designs, specifications, and technical reports
- Supporting projects through all stages from inception to handover
- Carrying out site inspections and overseeing installations
- Managing project workflows, deliverables, and quality standards
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
- Coordinating with architects, contractors, consultants, and clients
- Assisting with fee proposals, project financials, and business development activities as experience develops
The Ideal Candidate
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience within a building services consultancy
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services design
- Experience mentoring or managing junior team members
- Proficiency with industry-standard design software and AutoCAD
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage workload across multiple projects
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
Desirable:
- Experience using Revit and building modelling software
- Interest in sustainable and low-energy design solutions
