The Role

As a Credit Controller, you’ll play a key role in managing client ledgers, chasing overdue debts, and maintaining strong debtor positions. You’ll work closely with Client Managers and other departments, using your invoice finance experience to spot risks, resolve queries, and make sure clients always receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of client ledgers, chasing due and overdue debts.
  • Complete verification checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Build strong relationships with debtors and clients to ensure smooth payment processes.
  • Resolve queries quickly, liaising with Client Managers and Relationship Managers when required.
  • Identify and record disputed invoices, ensuring they are escalated and resolved promptly.
  • Run monthly impending disapproval checks, following up with debtors and updating clients.
  • Chase remittances for unallocated payments.
  • Use diary and reminder systems effectively to manage follow-ups.
  • Support Take-On/Sales teams with verification where required.
  • Assist the Risk team with collect-outs and recovery ledgers.
  • Contribute to wider operational tasks as needed.

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous experience in invoice finance, asset-based lending, or a related financial services role.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
  • Confident communicator who can build relationships with clients and debtors.
  • Resilient and proactive when chasing debts and resolving issues.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across departments.
  • Problem-solving mindset, able to resolve challenges effectively.
