Bhayani Recruitment is working with a leading restaurant franchise business that continues to grow, to recruit an in-house solicitor. In this role you will be required to provide high quality legal advice to the directors on predominantly commercial property matters as well as assessing other legal needs and being the point of contact for specialist external legal advisors. Summary of role

To provide property led legal services to the company on both commercial and residential matters, and act as liaison with external legal advisors in other disciplines. This role will be based at the head office in Sheffield with the flexibility to work remotely. You will be required to deal with property related work including freehold and leasehold purchases as well as providing general legal and business advice to the directors. The role will also encompass advising and negotiating on the renewal of existing franchise agreements and you will act as a legal sounding board to understand and shape the future growth plans. You will instruct and support other legal advisors in connection with corporate, banking, litigation, and other issues outside the scope of your expertise.


What will you be doing?

  • Acting for Group companies on the acquisition and disposal of properties including granting and taking leases, dealing with landlords and tenants. 
  • Dealing with other property related work including handling work arising out of the Group's property portfolio including licences, wayleaves and miscellaneous agreements and notices. 
  • Liaising with the finance team and, if necessary, chasing overdue rents. 
  • Liaising with external valuers and documenting rent reviews as landlord and or tenant. 
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships across all business units with key responsibility for the property function.  
  • Be the point of contact for external legal advisors within scope and agreed budget with the directors, advising the directors on the suitability of these advisers and monitoring their performance to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects. 
  • Advising and negotiating on the renewal of existing franchise agreements and on new franchise agreements for the Group. 
  • Keeping directors advised of developments in the law which may affect the Group and its objectives within your area of expertise.  
  • Supporting the People & Culture team where needed. This may include presence at internal meetings including disciplinary and grievance meetings on occasion. 
  • Contributing to new systems including technology and initiatives in the Group. 
  • Attending meetings and negotiations with third parties during the above.

Experience

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE in a commercial or corporate department gained in a law firm or in-house. 
  • Experience of commercial and residential property transactions from start to completion.
