My client, a bespoke MEP and Sustainability Consultancy based in Winchester, is searching for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to join their team to work on residential design projects across the local area.
This is a hybrid role, offering varied projects spanning high-rise residential developments, mixed-use developments, commercial and retail projects. This opportunity is available with a market leading Consultancy who specialise in high-rise residential in inner cities across the UK.
As an Assistant Mechanical Deisgn Engineer, you will be expected to join an experienced team and you will be training in mechanical (HVAC) design for building services. You will be trained by the team, review sites across the UK and complete site visits in inner cities.
You will be supported to complete;
-Detailed HVAC and mechanical designs using AutoCAD and Revit for bespoke high-rise residential and commercial builds.
-Complete 2D and 3D models, perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, IES, Open Buildings or Elite).
- Prepare mechanical drawings, schematics, simulations, vertical transportation and technical specifications in accordance with building codes, sustainability goals, and project requirements.
-Design to BIM level 2 in accordance with British Standards PAS 1192-5
-Collaborate with architects, plumbing, and structural engineers to ensure coordinated MEP layouts and avoid design clashes.
- Attend internal and client meetings to review design issues/queries and align project objectives. You will be supported by experienced team members during meetings.
-Assist with site visits to monitor installation quality, verify compliance with original designs and highlight issues during construction.
This role is from the office 5 days a week in Winchester. This exciting role offers varied projects career progression and the chance to be trained in both electrical and mechanical design.
As an Assistant Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to have a BSc and/or an MSc in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and have experience working for a UK based Consultancy completing mechanical HVAC designs for building services using Revit.
It is beneficial for applicants to electrical design for building services.
You will also be a confident individual who is comfortable liaising with design teams, contractors and clients and who is interested in site visits.
As an Assistant Engineer, you will be keen to learn and develop design skills to complete detailed HVAC designs for residential and commercial schemes.
You will be expected to work from the office 5 days a week for training purposes and have a valid UK driving licence.
