Structural Engineer

Nottingham - Hybrid Working

I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a successful and independent engineering consultancy with over 30 years’ experience and offices across the Midlands, North West and South West.

The consultancy provides civil, structural, transport planning and geo-environmental services across a diverse range of projects nationwide, working with clients and design teams on major infrastructure and multidisciplinary developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering structural analysis and design for a range of major infrastructure and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Producing structural designs in reinforced concrete and steelwork.
  • Carrying out structural calculations using software including Tekla, IDEA StatiCa and TEDDS, alongside hand calculations.
  • Undertaking structural inspections and providing construction support.
  • Preparing technical reports, specifications and other project documentation.
  • Developing practical and technically robust structural solutions in accordance with relevant British and International Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Working closely with clients, contractors, architects, engineers and other design disciplines to coordinate structural solutions.
  • Supporting project delivery from initial design through to construction.
  • Contributing to BIM processes and coordinated digital design workflows.
  • Attending site visits and liaising with clients and project teams where required.

About You

Applicants are required to be degree-qualified in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline, with experience working within a structural engineering consultancy or similar environment.

  • Experience in structural analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Strong knowledge of British and/or International Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Experience using structural engineering software such as Tekla, IDEA StatiCa and TEDDS.
  • Confident undertaking both software-based and hand calculations.
  • Experience producing technical reports, specifications and structural design information.
  • Understanding of BIM and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and wider project teams.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of projects and working with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Experience in a client-facing environment would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of seismic, dynamic or extreme environmental loading would be beneficial.
  • A genuine interest in developing towards professional qualification such as MIStructE or MICE.
