Overview: The Level 3 System Engineer (SE) plays a critical role in the analysis, design, development, and integration of complex hardware/software systems. Responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables within the Systems Engineering domain. Engages with stakeholders, provides technical leadership, and contributes to developing comprehensive system engineering documentation. The role demands a seasoned professional with extensive experience in systems engineering, planning, and leading efforts in adherence to established standards and frameworks.

Responsibilities:

Analyze user requirements, concept of operations, and high-level system architectures to formulate system requirements specifications.
Lead design and development activities, providing technical guidance for integrating requirements, design, and technology.
Guide users in requirement formulation, advise on alternative approaches and conduct feasibility studies.
Developed and maintained system architecture and design documentation.
Incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
Provide technical direction for developing, engineering, interfacing, integrating, and testing complex hardware/software systems.
Contribute to developing system engineering documentation, including System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
Coordinate resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
Participate in Integrated Product Teams to design new capabilities based on comprehensive development and operational considerations.
Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.
Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
Develop scenarios and an Operational Concept describing interactions between the system, user, and environment.
Assess risks to the program, determine the probability of occurrence, and quantify consequences of failure by an approved risk management plan.
Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.
Implement comprehensive Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
Support DoD Certification/Accreditation Process and other Government Certification and Accreditation processes.
Maintain knowledge of current and evolving standards applicable to system development, using suitable standards for consistency and interoperability.
·       Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) – Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), etc.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Masters in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts.
Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
