An independent Building Services Engineering Design consultancy is seeking a Building Physics Consultant to join their Manchester-based team.

With a strong heritage in the industry, the consultancy has built a reputation for delivering high-quality engineering design solutions across the built environment. Sustainability and energy efficiency sit at the core of their approach, with a clear focus on supporting clients in achieving Net Zero Carbon and wider environmental targets.

The business is actively involved in shaping the future of building performance, working in line with evolving UK Building Regulations and industry guidance from organisations such as UKGBC and LETI.

The Role

This opportunity is ideally suited to a consultant with 2–4 years’ experience looking to further develop their career in building physics within a supportive and technically strong environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver building performance modelling and analysis across a range of projects
  • Support the development of low-carbon and energy-efficient design solutions
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and sustainability engineers
  • Contribute to compliance and performance strategies from concept through to completion
  • Produce technical reports and support client deliverables

Technical Responsibilities

  • Dynamic simulation modelling using IES VE
  • Part L compliance and SBEM modelling
  • Overheating assessments (TM52 / TM59 / Part O)
  • Operational energy modelling (TM54)
  • Daylight and thermal comfort analysis
  • Support the delivery of Net Zero and sustainability strategies

About You

  • 2–4 years’ experience in a building physics or sustainability consultancy role
  • Degree in Building Physics, Environmental Engineering, or similar
  • Proficiency with IES VE (essential)
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry guidance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
