Bid Lead

Location: London

We’re working with a well‑established UK specialist contractor to recruit multiple Bid Leads to strengthen their pre‑construction team in London. These are pivotal roles focused on securing complex, high‑value projects across construction and infrastructure.

This opportunity suits experienced bid professionals who enjoy shaping winning strategies, leading multidisciplinary teams and producing high‑quality, client‑focused submissions.

The Role

As Bid Lead, you’ll take ownership of the full bid lifecycle, working closely with pre‑construction, commercial and operational teams to develop compelling, well‑structured tender submissions. You’ll play a key role in client engagement, managing bid teams and ensuring submissions are delivered to a consistently high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with pre‑construction and commercial teams to develop winning bid strategies
  • Build and manage strong client relationships to understand requirements and expectations
  • Take ownership of bid budgets, programmes and submission quality
  • Lead and coordinate tender submissions, including documentation, programmes and supply chain input
  • Manage bid plans, clarifications and internal governance throughout the tender process
  • Coordinate and deliver client presentations and interviews
  • Collaborate with supply chain partners, providing technical, commercial and contractual input
  • Maintain clear documentation and risk registers for all bids
  • Ensure submissions meet tender requirements and reflect best practice and innovation
  • Lead tender settlement approvals and support handover into delivery for successful bids

About You

  • Proven experience in a Bid Lead, Bid Manager or senior pre‑construction role within construction
  • Good understanding of the end‑to‑end tender process and pre‑construction activities
  • Relevant degree with strong IT skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); experience with estimating software such as CANDY or similar is beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple bids under pressure
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a confident, professional approach
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, ICE, RIBA, MIStructE etc.) desirable
