A well-established and growing transport planning consultancy with a strong presence in the development sector is seeking a Senior Transport Planner (Development Planning) to join its Wakefield-based team. The business has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, education, and mixed-use schemes nationwide. The Role

  • Preparing Transport Assessments and Transport Statements for a wide range of developments and clients, including:
    • Application of current and emerging national and local planning policy
    • Accessibility assessments, including the use of ATE tools/guidance for larger sites
    • Analysis of personal injury accident data
    • Use of TRICS and alternative trip generation methodologies
    • Trip distribution methodologies
    • Junction modelling, including Junctions and LinSig
  • Preparing development-related Travel Plans, with a sound understanding of planning conditions and S106 obligations
  • Undertaking Access Feasibility Assessments, with knowledge of relevant design standards and guidance
  • Preparing Construction Traffic Management Plans

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong track record of independently producing high-quality transport planning reports across a variety of development types
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members and ensuring the quality and accuracy of outputs
  • Excellent written, analytical, and numerical skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and local highway and planning authorities
  • The ability to manage competing deadlines and collaborate effectively to deliver projects on time
  • Commercial awareness, including experience preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets
  • An interest in contributing to a growing SME environment, where individual ideas and input can help shape the future of the business
  • A proactive and motivated approach, with pride in delivering high-quality work and a desire for continued professional development
