Bhayani Recruitment is working in partnership with an award-winning community enterprise that delivers high-quality and responsive services to local people to recruit a Duty Manager within their Customer Services team at the Leisure Centre. They are passionate community enablers, working to tackle local inequalities and improve community wellbeing and deliver a range of responsive and integrated community, leisure, health and work support services to adults and children from across Sheffield.


Summary of role

The purpose of a Duty Manager will be to work as part of a Leisure Services Management team to ensure the healthy, safe and secure operation of the day-to-day running of the Leisure Centre. The role will require flexible working with a shift pattern, including early starts, evenings, and weekends.


What will you be doing?

  • Supervise and support leisure team staff to perform their role effectively in all wet & dry physical activities & reception areas,
  • Ensure effective procedures and practices are in place to ensure a high-quality customer journey from first contact.
  • Lead the supervision and support for the Centre’s Customer Service team
  • Support effective customer communications using the website and social media channels
  • Manage room booking systems.
  • Act as a point of contact and build relations with Centre tenants.
  • Plan and schedule regular staff training in relation to customer-facing systems and services.
  • Deal positively with customer enquiries, concerns and complaints.
  • Support effective internal and external marketing & communications


Requirements

Essential

  • 3 years’ experience working within the leisure industry.
  • Experience in staff supervision working in a customer-facing environment, resolving conflict and handling customer complaints
  • NPLQ (or willingness to engage in immediate training)
  • Knowledge and experience of health & safety requirements in the leisure industry.
  • Knowledge of pool plant operation or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge and experience in premises management.
  • Knowledge and experience in planning, developing & coordinating activities in a leisure facility.
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft 365 applications, leisure administration systems, including cash handling.
  • Excellent communications skills - both written, verbal and face-to-face.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Flexible and organised


Desirable

  • First Aid at Work
  • National Pool Plant Operators certificate
  • Level 2 Fitness Instructor Qualification (NVQ or similar)
  • Swimming Teaching qualification
  • Other relevant leisure qualifications
