Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 plus DOE 

My client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy team. The role involves delivering mechanical building services design, providing technical advice to clients, and supporting multi-disciplinary project teams across a wide range of development types.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design for commercial, industrial, medical, residential, retail, mixed-use and extra-care schemes.
• Produce technical drawings, reports and specifications.
• Liaise directly with clients and external teams on technical matters.
• Manage and coordinate projects, suppliers and contractors.
• Promote sustainable design principles.
• Use industry-standard software, including EDSL TAS.
• Apply detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice and regulations.

What we’re looking for:

• Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience in mechanical building services design.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to prioritise workload and work collaboratively within a team.
• Desire to contribute to business growth and personal career development.
   Desirable:
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE).
• Understanding of sustainable design principles.
• Engineering Council registration.
• Full UK driving licence.
