Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services 

Location: Bolton

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE

A growing building services consultancy in Bolton is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects while developing your technical expertise and progressing toward senior-level responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and delivery of mechanical building services across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.
• Produce mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Work closely with senior engineers to develop designs that meet client, legislative, and sustainability requirements.
• Participate in site visits, surveys, and inspections to support project delivery.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, architects, and contractors.
• Contribute to design reviews, project meetings, and coordination tasks.

What we’re looking for:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years’ experience in a building services design role.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, public health services, and low-carbon technologies.
• Experience with design software such as IES, Revit, or similar (advantageous).
• Good communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Keen to develop professionally, with support toward chartership available.
