My client, a market leading MEP design Consultancy who specialise in complex MEP designs for varied projects, are searching for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join their team London.  You will be required to work from the office 3 days a week (incorporating site visits).   

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer you will join an experienced team to complete HVAC, heating and cooling system designs for healthcare, commercial, education and residential developments across the UK.  

You will be expected to manage and grow the existing team, check, complete and amend detailed mechanical designs including heating, ventilation, plumbing and air-conditioning using AutoCAD and Revit for building services projects.  

You will also be expected to review 2D and 3D models, perform heat load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD, HAP, or Elite).

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to manage projects, liaise with Clients to discuss project progress and develop new business with new and existing clients.   

The role will also involve;

-Review and amend mechanical drawings, schematics, simulations and technical specifications in accordance with building codes, sustainability goals, and project requirements.

-Check designs are in accordance with BIM level 2 and British Standards PAS 1192-5.

-Collaborate with electrical, plumbing, and structural engineers to ensure coordinated MEP layouts and avoid design clashes both in the office and on site.  

- Attend frequent internal and external meetings with Clients and Contractors on site to resolve design issues/queries and align project objectives.

-Review designs submitted by the technical design team and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information).

-Liaise with design teams, architectural teams and site engineers to ensure designs are installed to specifications, to time and budget, meeting client expectations.  You will also ensure compliance and standards of project delivery remain high.    

-Client meetings to discuss design briefs, project progress and new business/project work.   

-Discuss with Senior Team Members to evaluate new materials and designs ensuring energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

-Project management, team management and team/business growth strategies.

As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will be expected to have a BSc and/or an MSc Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering and have achieved Chartered Status.   You will have vast experience working for UK based Consultancy completing detailed HVAC designs for residential, commercial and healthcare schemes using AutoCAD and Revit.  

You are also required to have experience managing projects, mentoring team members, growing project portfolios and teams.   You will also have a detailed knowledge PAS 1192-5, RIBA stage 4 and other relevant codes and a keen understanding of BREEAM and net zero.

A valid driving licence is also required.
