KC Recycling has retained Prime Essential to find a Transportation Manager who they're serious about hiring this summer.

This role is critical for KC Recycling's continued growth as one of Western Canada and US Pacific Northwest premier leader in recycling hazardous materials and electronic waste.

As the only recycling location for particular products in their region with a growing need for their services, expanding their current transportation division is key to offer more solutions to their customers. With our continued growth we are looking for an experienced transportation leader to join our team.

The Transportation Manager works directly with company drivers, customers, and other department leaders to help strategically maintain and grow the customer portfolio of KC Recycling. This position has been created to help balance freight needs with production capabilities at their plants. KC Recycling are looking for an experienced Transportation Manager with knowledge of safety, DOT Regulations, operations, maintenance, purchasing, recruiting, driver management, routing, and customs compliance. The role will have oversight of our entire transportation department and be responsible for the safety, utilization, and capabilities of our private fleet. The Transportation Manager’s team will play a vital role in ensuring our customer’s products are delivered in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.

Position Objectives

• Leverage existing and create new local and regional relationships
• Recruit and Onboard local and regional drivers for all positions
• Train staff and drivers
• Ensure all KC Recycling Policies and Procedures are followed
• Help grow our administrative footprint in Trail, BC 
• Customer service functions associated with our fleet services.
• Active in strategic route planning and optimization on existing lanes and loads
• Compliance and safety regulations as it pertains to cross border transport.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Recruit and training drivers
• Cross Border Logistics and Permitting
• Dispatch Drivers, routing, and managing
• Building a logistics team for transport 24/7
• Manage freight pricing and contracts
• Manage and understand individual department P&L

 Qualifications & Experience

• Sufficient working experience in the motor carrier industry preferred, including knowledge of operations, clerical procedures, and DOT and HAZMAT regulations.
• Must have an understanding of customs and Canadian NSC regulations.
• Must have proven track record of effective supervision performance.
• Must have knowledge of all regional and geographical areas in PNW and Western Canada.
• Must have Passport and be willing and able to cross the border
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of internal and external personnel.
